ADVENT DEVOTION
I cannot believe that we are in the Christmas season already! This year has been fraught with Covid 19 and the collective challenges as a result. While nothing new, our country has been overtly divided around race and justice, more so than I have seen in my lifetime. We are at odds with our neighbor over everything and there seems to be divisive discourse at every turn. We are even debating topics such as forgiveness, hope peace and love. It is a troubling time to say the least.
People continually state that they just want to make it out of 2020. While I understand the sentiment, 2020 did not create nor present these issues. A new year does not bring on a change. We, as individuals and a people bring about change, through the transformation of our hearts. If we ever needed a transformation in our hearts it is now. Jesus is THE heart transformer.
Advent is a time Christians celebrate the soon coming king in the birth of Jesus the Christ. It is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for coming of Jesus into our lives, where we reflect on the time of preparation before the birth of Jesus.
Advent provides a wonderful opportunity for us to prepare our hearts to receive Christ into every part of our lives and allow Him to transform us. Let us receive Him in our hearts so that we might bear good fruit and reconcile within ourselves those things that are causing us harm, allowing Him to bring us peace.
This year at Modern Day Christian Chick we pray that you will join us as we walk through an Advent Devotion entitles “A Weary World Rejoices - an Advent Study” from November 29-December 24. I am praying that you will join us as we use this time to prepare our hearts to receive Jesus. The devotion we will be reading can be found here and is pictured above. You may also download the app “Bible” (You Version) for free on iTunes and Android. If you download the app you can follow me: Marsha Myers. Let’s connect over there!
We will start the devotion tomorrow, November 29. The writer devotion starts today, November 28, so tomorrow we will read the offering for the 28th and the 29th and then follow from there. I pray you join us on this journey. I know that you will be blessed as you walk through this Christmas Season focused on the one who is the greatest gift of all.
God bless.
